We all want to have a wide even smile as well as having the ability to bite and chew with ease, unfortunately many people are afflicted with a malocclusion, an uneven bite. With advances in orthodontics malocclusions can be treated and fixed by our Battery Park orthodontist Dr. Robert Weeman, DDS. at our state-of-the-art office in downtown Manhattan. Our practice works with both children and adults to make their bites even and smiles fantastic.

Our Battery Park orthodontist offers a complete range of orthodontic services geared to treat problems including difficulty chewing, crowded teeth, missing teeth, speech difficulties due to jaw or teeth structure, protruding teeth, irregular bite and facial imbalances. The most common treatments consist of orthodontic methods including the use of braces and other appliances to address malocclusions. For children we offer initial evaluations that our doctor recommends be done around the age of seven so that early stage orthodontic treatment, known as interceptive orthodontics be initiated so that later treatments will be both easier and more effective with less need for extracting teeth because sufficient room has been created in the jaw. Most orthodontic treatments will include the use of braces in some form for a varied amount of time. In addition to traditional metal braces our practice also offers clear ceramic braces and lingual braces that are placed on the back of the teeth.

While our adult patients can certainly benefit from all the available types of orthodontic treatments and braces our Battery Park orthodontist also offers the Invisalign System as an alternative treatment. Invisalign uses removable clear plastic trays that are invisible to straighten teeth. While most malocclusions are due to dental abnormalities and respond to orthodontic treatments some are due to skeletal problems that require orthognathic surgery, which our doctor will plan and collaborate on with a team of oral surgeons. Don’t live with an uneven bite and unappealing smile; call our office for an evaluation appointment.
